Gene name

CYSLTR1

Description

cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1

Protein class

G-protein coupled receptors, Mapped to UniProt SWISS-PROT, Potential transmembrane proteins, Transporters

Protein evidence

Low

Entrez gene summary

The cysteinyl leukotrienes LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4 are important mediators of human bronchial asthma. Pharmacologic studies have determined that cysteinyl leukotrienes activate at least 2 receptors, the protein encoded by this gene and CYSLTR2. This encoded receptor is a member of the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors. Activation of this receptor by LTD4 results in contraction and proliferation of smooth muscle, oedema, eosinophil migration and damage to the mucus layer in the lung. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Staining summary

Distinct cytoplasmic positivity with a granular pattern was observed in macrophages and granulocytes. Basal cell layer of squamous epithelia, glandular cells in gastrointestinal tract, subsets of cells in red pulp of spleen and renal tubules showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity with a granular pattern. Nucleolar staining was observed in fractions of cells in CNS. Other normal tissues were in general negative.
