This score describes a knowledge-based best estimate of the protein expression in the annotated cell types as not detected (n), low (l), medium (m) or high (h). It is a result of stringent evaluation of immunohistochemical staining pattern, RNA data from internal and external sources and available protein/gene characterization data. Muscle cells and myoepithelium displayed strong cytoplasmic positivity. Basal cells in squamous epithelia, decidual cells, fractions of neurons, ovarian and endmetrial stromal cells displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining normal cells were negative.
Strong cytoplasmic staining was displayed in myocytes and ganglia cells. Additional weak nuclear positivity was observed in neuronal cells in CNS. All other normal cells were essentially negative.
Most normal tissues showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity with additional membranous staining in several cases. Respiratory and squamous epithelium, smooth and skeletal muscle cells were strongly stained. Cells in CNS, lymphoid tissues, islet of Langerhans, renal glomeruli, thyroid, cells in seminiferous ducts and trophoblasts were weakly stained or negative.
