The cell line atlas displays the RNA-levels and the immunohistochemical positivity in 46 cell lines (RNA data currently lacking for cell lines LP-1 and Hth-83).
Antibodies used for the immunohistochemical stainings are approved based upon comparison with RNA- expression levels. The approval strategy is described here, and each antibody can be scored as either supportive or uncertain depending on the level of congruency between RNA and protein data.
RNA and protein data is visualized as purple (RNA) and blue (IHC) bars for each cell line. The cell lines are ordered according to cellular origin, in order to facilitate localization of cell line of interest as well as of visualizing patterns of gene expression according to cellular origin. RNA values are represented as FPKM values and further described here. Protein values are generated using an automated image analysis software further described here. In the case of data from more than one antibody being available, switching between antibodies can be done in the menu to the left.
